Ben's Solo Flight

In the beginning of October Ben had his first solo flight in the T-6 Texan.  It was hard to believe that after only a month of flying they were letting him take the plane up by himself!  Here Ben is in Life Support getting his helmet and g-suit all ready to go.
While Ben was pre-flighting one of our friends got a good shot of his helmet on the T-6.
It didn't take too long before Ben was all strapped in and looking like he belonged in the cockpit.

Double and triple checking everything I hope!

This is my favorite picture of him saluting the crew chief as he taxies off to the runway.

It was a really great experience for my dad and I to be able to go out to the flight line and watch him preflight and get the jet started up.  I doubt it will ever happen again, but the pictures and the memories are great!!

Columbus Update

Ben and I moved to Columbus, MS from Minot, ND in June 2008.  It was a great experience to once again be moving to a new location.  We love the life and adventure the Air Force has given us so far.

When we got to Columbus we then drove to Arkansas to pick up our pride and joy.  Sadie is a Redbone Coonhound with boundless energy and lots of love to share.  When we got her she was a tiny 17 lbs., but she quickly grew to her
present weight of 60 lbs.  Hopefully she will get a little bigger!
It didn't take too long for us to settle into a routine.  Ben worked twelve hour days and I got a job at the local coffee shop.  Before we knew it Ben was soloing.  It was a lot of fun getting to see him in his element.

Off we go...

Where to even start.  It is so hard to keep in touch with people as the Air Force moves us around.  We love to share pictures and moments of our lives, but I was looking for a more efficient way to do that.  Then the blog world hit me.  With moving, a new puppy, Ben's pilot training, and a baby on the way, we decided this would be the easiest way for y'all to have a peek through the window to our world.  Wish me luck!!
